Randi Lile was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended
the University of Utah and received a BFA in Art Teaching in 2005. She is
currently the studio manager of Red Kiln Pottery Studio and Gallery in Salt
Lake City, and an Art Specialist at Hillsdale Elementary. She also teaches
for Park City Community Education, Salt Lake Community Education, and
has been the Artist in Residence for Rowland Hall St. Mark’s School.
Randi was recently shown creating a fish wall sculpture on HGTV’s
“That’s Clever.”
Although Randi enjoys working in a variety of mediums, including
painting, printmaking, photography, and batik, ceramics is at the top of
her list. She likes to make functional wheel-thrown work, but her passion
is creating ceramic sculptures. She likes the flexibility and freedom that
clay allows for sculptural forms. Randi’s personal experiences are constant
sources of inspiration for new creations. Many times she uses animal forms,
such as those of fish, cats, and birds to convey an emotion or attitude. She
said:
“I have been working with clay for several years, but realized I have only
scratched the surface of it’s potential and will continue to learn from it for
years to come.”
